Large Format Photography
Two Day Weekend Workshop

Weekend

Our Large Format workshop has been limited to four to eight participants. A group this size leaves much room for discussion and we encourage you to raise any topics of interest that surrounds the process of producing negatives and photographs using a Large Format camera.

We will be viewing many negatives, proofs and photographs during the weekend, and will be exploring diverse technical and visual approaches.

The technical aspects include:
Choice of camera
Choice of equipment
Uses and Limitations of equipment
Lenses
Camera Movements
Format size
Depth of Field
Technique & Approach
Processing & Proofing
Availability of materials and equipment

Visual aspects:
Making photographs from large negatives (choices and limitations)
Approach to 'seeing' with a particular format
Does size matter?
Detail
Depth of field
Subject matter & Genre.

Over the Weekend:
We will be using 4x5 film & cameras
If you do not have a camera I will supply a 4x5 for you.
Bring your own camera - if you have a 5x7 for example and you want to use this instead of the 4x5 then no problem - bring it along with film.
(Regarding the use of a Large Format camera, I use 4x5, 5x7, and 8x10;
Gordon uses up to 11x14)
Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Important:
If you have your own camera and tripod - by all means bring it along!
If you have a handheld light meter – yes PLEASE, do bring it along.

Time: The workshop will run from 8:30am until 4:30pm (and as with all our courses and workshops I can’t guarantee that we wont actually go overtime!)

Cost: $395.00
We accept direct deposit, cash, cheque, or credit card (in person).
You may pay a deposit and settle the balance a week prior to the workshop, or you may pay in full – either way is fine.
