At Point
Light Photographic Workshops we believe there is nothing
comparable to a fine black and white print. We welcome
you to join us and become inspired by this beautiful
medium. There are many variables in creating a photograph
– it’s not just all about ‘pressing
the button’ at a decisive moment. Exposing that
film is just a small part of a wonderful process that
will eventuate into a unique work of art. You are most
welcome to come and see what is involved in creating
a traditional fine black and white print.
The current
photography being exhibited at Point Light is selected
personal work by photographers Enrico Scotece, Peter
Lang, and Anne Lynam.
At Point Light Photographic
Workshops we bring to you the finest tuition available
in traditional monochrome photography. We are housed
parallel to, and run in conjunction with, Point Light
Gallery located in inner city Surry Hills.
Point Light Gallery was established by Lyndell and Gordon
Undy in 1996. Together with the Gallery, a Workshop
and Darkroom program was formed with the intention to
foster the appreciation and creation of fine black and
white photographs. In 2007, after 10 years of operation,
Gordon and Lyndell had taken a well deserved break however
the demand for classes and darkroom availability continued.
The workshop and darkroom program has now been reformed
as Point Light Photographic Workshops and is now directed
by photographers Enrico Scotece and Peter Lang.
The courses being offered
are Introduction to Black and White Photography, Intermediate
Course, Getting the Right Negative, and Expressive Black
and White Printing. Those completing the printing class
will be invited to participate in our successful “Emergence”
exhibition each year starting mid 2009. New classes
to follow will include lighting, portraiture, still
life, and other areas of special interest.
